As the search continues for former “Glee” actress Naya Rivera, who went missing while boating on Lake Piru in California last Wednesday with her 4 year-old son, it appears the situation is beginning to take a toll on her family.

The U.K. Sun reported that heartbreaking photos show Rivera’s mother Yolanda Rivera kneeling on the side of the Ventura lake where her 33 year-old daughter is believed to have drowned.

Rivera’s family were joined in the search by her ex-husband Ryan Dorsey, who was seen wading through the water in tears. He is the father of Rivera’s 4 year-old son Josey, who was thankfully found sleeping on the boat alone after his mother went missing.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Office sergeant Kevin Donoghue told People that after talking to Josey, they have no reason to believe that the actress took her own life.

“We interviewed her son and there was nothing that we learned from her son that would have suggested that this was suicide,” he said. “Everything that we’ve learned so far leads to this being some sort of water recreational accident. To say definitively what actually happened, we really can’t say. We just don’t know, it’s a mystery.”

Josey reportedly told investigators that his mom “jumped into the water but didn’t come back up.”

Police have released underwater footage that shows just how murky it is beneath the surface, showing just how challenging this search really is.

“We don’t know if she’s going to be found five minutes from now or five days from now, so we’re still going to be continuing this effort,” said Ventura County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Eric Buschow. “The visibility in the water is one to two feet.”

“They get a really detailed image and they can go down and focus on specific things rather than putting divers in the water where they’re literally feeling around because they can’t see,” he added.

A man who is believed to be Dorsey’s father Arnold Dorsey was at Rivera’s mother’s home with the family on Friday.

“We are sad, we just wish they could find her so we can have some closure,” he said. When asked how little Josey is doing, he added, “We still have good days [with him], I can’t make any other comment at this time.”
