Sports Illustrated Includes ‘Curviest Model Ever’ In New 2020 Swimsuit Issue

Sports Illustrated’s 2020 Swimsuit issue reportedly features a plus-sized model named Hunter McGrady, who is already being dubbed the “curviest model ever” for the publication.

“I have been so excited for this shoot to be released,” McGrady, 27, wrote on Instagram. “This trip was life changing and was so special to experience with the most special team. Sports Illustrated has given me so much and created so many incredible opportunities for me and I will forever be grateful. Every time the magazine comes out it is a ‘pinch me’ moment.”

“Every time the magazine comes out it is a ‘pinch me’ moment,” added McGrady, who has appeared in the magazine four times.

Today is the day! @si_swimsuit is out on stands now! I have been so excited for this shoot to be released. This trip was life changing and was so special to experience with the most special team. Sports Illustrated has given me so much and created so many incredible opportunities for me and I will forever be grateful. Every time the magazine comes out it is a “pinch me” moment. Thank you @mj_day for consistently being a catalyst in the way our industry is changing. Earlier this month, McGrady had teased her photoshoot with Sports Illustrated with another sultry photo.

“When I look back on this shot from My @si_swimsuit shoot I remember being so in the moment and feeling so strong, and so confident more-so than ever before!” she captioned the image. “I took the months, and weeks, and days, and even hours leading up to this shoot to really hone in my ‘why’ and really setting my intention for this shoot.”

When I look back on this shot from My @si_swimsuit shoot I remember being so in the moment and feeling so strong, and so confident more-so than ever before! I took the months, and weeks, and days, and even hours leading up to this shoot to really hone in my “why” and really setting my intention for this shoot. Of course i always know I’m going to get killer, beautiful shots with SI but most importantly I know that the woman who for so long hasn’t seen her body represented will hopefully feel seen, heard, and understood. I can’t wait to see the rest of these shots from this extraordinary trip to Bali which absolutely changed my life (I had a serious eat, pray, love moment) the issue hits stands July 21st! ❤️ photographer: @yutsai88 [4]

Sports Illustrated [5] also released a behind-the-scenes video of McGrady’s shoot in which she discussed how her confidence has grown over the years.

“This year I feel the most secure, the most confident, the most beautiful. I just feel my best this year,” the model explained. “The most challenging part of my career is dealing with people who don’t understand what I stand for. Before every photo shoot, I am literally praying — I am praying for the intention to inspire.”

“We see only one per cent of people, and I think it’s important to see real people for who they are — the honest, truthful, raw people that we look up to,” McGrady added. “It just makes them feel more real and connected, and that’s all I ever want is to be connected to people. Change is, of course, scary and, you know, people don’t want to see it, but I will not stop until we all feel represented.”
