Yesterday, we reported that sources were saying that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani were going through a “rough patch” in their relationship. On Wednesday night, however, Shelton appeared to try and put these rumors to rest when he gushed about Stefani during his acceptance speech at the 2020 Academy of Country Music Awards.

While accepting his single of the year award for his hit “God’s Country,” Shelton thanked Stefani for “encouraging me” and “for being my inspiration.”

“Holy cow, Single of the Year!” Shelton said while accepting the award virtually. “This is a complete shock and an absolute honor. I want to … thank Scott Hendricks for producing this record and bringing this song to my attention. Thank you to Warner Bros. Records for all the hard work you do, the promotion staff, everyone involved. Thanks for continuing to somehow prop me up after 20 years of doing it.”

“Obviously, [thanks to] country radio, for playing the crap out of not only this song, but you’ve been so good to me with all my singles,” he added. “Thank you for that. Thank you to my management, thank you to the fans. And thank you, Gwen Stefani, for continuing to encourage me to keep doing this and keep trying. And being my inspiration. Thank you God, thank you everybody. Single of the Year, yes!”

This comes after a source came forward to claim that Shelton and Stefani are going through a “rough patch” in their relationship right now.

“They feel suffocated and stressed,” a source told US Weekly. “They’re both stretched to the limit.”

Friends of the couple have said that much of the stresses on their relationship appear to stem from the new $13.2 million mansion that they just bought in the ritzy Encino neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. After spending months of quarantine in Oklahoma with very little drama, this move has reportedly become a “nightmare” for them.

“Friends say this move has turned into a nightmare,” the source explained. “This is the toughest period they’ve had so far without a doubt.”

However, the insider made sure to add that there is still hope for the couple, who had planned to get married in Los Angeles in the fall.

“They know how to compromise,” the source said, going on to say that they have found ways in the past to “work through any tension and look at the bigger picture.”
