Fans of the television show “Dancing With The Stars” have launched a petition to bring back Tom Bergeron as host. Bergeron had been with the show since it premiered back in 2005 until he was abruptly fired over the summer and replaced by supermodel Tyra Banks, who is hosting the current season.

“On July 13th, 2020 Tom Bergeron made the shocking announcement that after 15 years, he was informed that he would no longer be the Host of ABC Networks longtime reality competition dance show ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ in which he is an 11 time Emmy Nominee and 1 Time Winner for hosting this show,” the change.org petition stated. “Tom Bergeron is the heart of this show and it is a MASSIVE Mistake to get rid of him.”

“I am petitioning ABC Television Network, ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke, Senior Vice President, Alternative Series, Specials & Late-Night Programming, ABC Entertainment Robert Mills and Dancing With The Stars Executive Producer & Showrunner Andrew Linares to rethink this decision,” the petition added. “This show will not be the same without him and you risk losing a large portion of your audience by getting rid of this fan favorite host. Let Tom be the one and only Host of Dancing With The Stars. Please, bring him back as Host.”

A second petition on change.org demands that both Bergeron and his cohost Erin Andrews be brought back to the program.

“On Monday, July 13, Dancing with the Stars made the biggest mistake of the entire show’s run,” this petition stated. “They let Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews go. Tom is the heart of the show and I believe, as do many others, that there is no show  without him. Tom seemed to have a great relationship with Erin and they complemented each other well. There are many issues with what the show has become and it needs revamping, but the hosts were the one thing right! No disrespect to Tyra Banks, but this is not a good arena for her. She has no history with the show and won’t connect with viewers the way Tom and Erin did.”

“ABC, do the right thing and bring Tom and Erin back!!!” it added. “From what I understand, they seemed to have been blindsided by the decision. It was not fair to them at all, especially to Tom who has put 15 years into the show. DWTS won’t last after this malicious firing. I definitely will not be watching without Tom and Erin as part of the show. If you want the show to have any chance of survival, you’ll find a way to get them to come back!!!”

It remains to be seen whether or not ABC will give these fans what they want.
