The Democrat hypocrisy on riots is astounding. Over the summer they were allegedly peaceful, though cities burned and people died. Now they are dangerous threats to law and order. Well, they got it half right. Which for Democrats is a major achievement.

FNC: “Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., said Wednesday that he intends to hold the rioters who attacked the U.S. Capitol responsible and wondered aloud if the incident would have ever happened had lawmakers responded to this summer’s chaos in cities across the nation with the same kind of resolve.

‘If we had prosecuted BLM and Antifa rioters across the country with the same determination these last six months, this incident may not have happened at all,’ McClintock said during a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives. The House voted 232-197 Wednesday to impeach President Trump for alleged ‘incitement of insurrection’ in connection with the mob chaos at the Capitol on Jan. 6.”

The attack on the Capitol strikes at the most sacred act of our democracy: the peaceful transfer of power. It is an outrage and a threat to our most fundamental principles as a free people.

“Suppressing free speech is not the answer, holding rioters accountable for their actions is the answer,’ McClintock continued. He is right and referring to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her proposal to set up a Truth Ministry run by people like her. Fascism, anyone?

McClintock has hit the nail on the head. Would Trump supporters have been so motivated by the president and so emboldened to commit an assault on the Capitol if Antifa and Black Lives Matter thugs had been prosecuted earlier this year? What separates these violent left wing mobs and violent Trump mobs? When you really get down to what basically drives them, very little. Both groups are compromised of thugs. Both use violence when it suits them. Both have a minimal understanding of representative government. A mob is a mob.

But while most Republicans recoil from political violence many Democrats still embrace it as long as it is perpetrated by their own mobs.

This writer was on the phone today with a Democrat from Arizona who denied the existence of Antifa and excused Black Lives Matter for their myriad acts of terrorism. To her, the only violence that wasn’t acceptable is any committed by the Right. If it is committed by Marxist guttersnipes, racist goons, or confused leftist college sophomores, well, that’s alright with her. And thus comes into focus a continuing struggle for the country, a repudiation of thugs of any variety while simultaneously defending America against the Left.

For the Left or anyone else shouldn’t figure that because a sane American loyal to the Constitution opposes political violence and anyone who commits it, they somehow are new adherents to the Democrats or left wing policies. Rational main street conservatives are at the forefront of the coming fight against the Biden administration because they do not have the image anvil around their necks of condoning mobs, political violence, or any lame duck demagogue who incited it.
