Country Music Star Darius Rucker Reveals If He Thinks His Friend Tiger Woods Will Play Golf Again After Car Crash

Earlier this week, we reported [1] that the golfing legend Tiger Woods had been in a serious car crash. Now, his close friend country music star Darius Rucker is revealing if he thinks the 45 year-old will ever play golf again.

Rucker addressed Woods’ condition on the “Today” show on Friday days after Woods got surgery on his legs following the crash.

“When it first happened, you’re all worried about his health, but now that you know what’s going on, I think Tiger’s such a strong guy,” Rucker said.

When asked if Woods would play golf again, the country music star replied, “The question of if he’s going to play again, I say if Tiger wants to play again, he’ll play again.”

“I just want him to get better, get healthy,” Rucker added.

Fans have been wondering all week if this car accident means the end of Woods’ career.

“He doesn’t want his career to end like this,” an insider told People Magazine [2] after the crash. “So if there’s any way at all that he can continue playing golf, he will.”

This comes after Dr. Neil Ghodadra, who has an orthopedic practice in California, told Entertainment Tonight [3] that Woods’ chances of returning to golf are “all about the rehab,” going on to say that he does “fully expect him to recover and come back and play.”

Rucker and Woods have been friends ever since they met at a bar in Michigan back in the 1990s. Rucker’s band, Hootie and the Blowfish, was just starting to rise to fame at the time, and Woods was an 18 year-old rising star in golf.

“We were sitting at the bar and I look over the bar and I’m like, ‘Isn’t that that Tiger Woods kid that everybody’s talking about?’ He’s 18,” Rucker told PGATour.com [4] back in 2019. “… So I went over and I said, ‘Are you Tiger Woods?’ and he says, ‘Are you the guy from Hootie and the Blowfish?’ and I sat down and we just hung out all night.”

“Tiger’s my favorite player,” he added. “He’s probably my best friend out there and he’s also, my favorite player. There’s not a lot of things in sports that gives me more joy than watching Tiger Woods play.”
