A vaccine site in Georgia became the fourth site this week administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to have to halt operations early due to individuals experiencing side effects after they received the vaccine.

The Georgia site, located at the Cumming Fairgrounds, halted the administration of the vaccine after 8 people experienced lightheadedness. Health officials claim the issue might be more related to hot weather.

“It was a fainting issue. We don’t think it’s anything to do with the vaccine. It’s probably more environmental factors. That facility is hard to cool, and we do have fans there, but it was a warmer day. I think the heat may have had some bearing on it. We’re not sure.” – Dave Palmer North Georgia Health District Spokesperson

However, this is the fourth site this week to have to halt operations early after individuals experienced side effects after receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Sites in Colorado, Iowa and North Carolina also were forced to shutdown early after multiple recipients who received the vaccine from Johnson & Johnson experienced side effects.

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is 66 percent effective against the coronavirus.
