Larry King’s Widow Launches Court Bid To Be Executor Of His Estate After He Cuts Her Out Of His Will

Back in February, we reported [1] that the legendary talk show host Larry King had cut his widow Shaun King, who he was married to for 23 years, out of his will. This was revealed after Larry passed away back in January at the age of 87.

Now, Shawn is fighting this in court, and she’s just requested to be the executor of his estate despite being cut out of his will. Shawn filed the legal documents, which were obtained by Page Six [2], in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday. If the judge approves it, the decision would ensure the validity of Larry’s original will and allow Shawn, 61, to be “appointed as personal representative to administer the estate of the decedent.”

A court hearing to deal with this has been scheduled for May 4.

This came after Shawn filed court documents back in February to fight Larry’s “secret” handwritten will that came to light after his death. The new will only mentioned Larry’s children and did not leave anything to Shawn, who Larry had been estranged from since August of 2019. Larry dated his handwritten will October 17, 2019, and he wrote that he wanted his $2 million estate to go to his kids Andy, Chaia, Larry Jr., Chance and Cannon.

Larry wrote this will before Andy and Chaia tragically each passed away last summer, with his son dying of a heart attack and his daughter losing a battle to cancer. Those two and Larry Jr. are Larry’s children from previous marriages, while Chance and Cannon are the sons he had with Shawn.

In her February filing, Shawn claimed that Larry’s poor health left him susceptible to “outside influence,” and that he may not have been aware that he was even signing the new will. She also claimed that he was not actually planning to go through with the divorce by the time he died.

“Larry and I, you know, we never finalized our divorce,” Shawn said [3] after his death. “In my heart, I didn’t think it was really going to happen and it never did. We were partners in every sense of the way, in business, and in, well, first in our family and then in business. But we’re a close family. You know, family is the most important thing, and God.”
