Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump, spoke out this week to slam the media for the way that it has covered the Kyle Rittenhouse case, saying that the far-left media is hiding the truth about what happened just to push their agenda. Trump added that this is exactly why so many Americans have lost all faith in the media.
“This is nothing new for the mainstream media,” Trump told Fox News. “In fact, they’ve been trying to tell us what they want us to hear and not the truth for quite some time now. And people have finally started to wake up in America and say, ‘Wait a minute, I don’t think I’ve been getting the facts from these quote-unquote journalists out there,’ because that’s not what they are at all.”
“A lot of these people consider themselves to be political activists, and they disguise themselves as journalists,” she added. “But I think it’s why you see the distrust in the media at an all-time high in our country right now because you haven’t been able to get the facts about a lot of things. They’ve been pushing a certain narrative for so long.”
Rittenhouse is currently on trial for fatally shooting two people and injuring a third during the riots that took place in Kenosha, Wisconsin in August of 2020. Though Rittenhouse claims that he acted in self defense, and that the victims were attacking him, he has already been convicted in the eyes of the media.
MSNBC contributor Jason Johnson branded Rittenhouse “the enemy,” while MSNBC analyst John Heilemann described him as “arguably a domestic terrorist,” according to Fox News. ABC News blasted Rittenhouse as an “alleged white supremacist,” while a writer for the Daily Beast lumped the teenager in with “armed militias, White power groups, Proud Boys, Boogaloo extremists,” while also calling him a “murderer.”
After Rittenhouse broke down on the stand earlier this week, “The View” cohost Joy Behar claimed that his were “crocodile tears,” adding that it was “one of the worst acting jobs” that she’s ever seen.

“Woke” lawmakers have gotten in on the action as well, with President Joe Biden condemning Rittenhouse as a “white supremacist” last year. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got in on the action as well, saying that Rittenhouse’s posting of bail a sign that “protection of white supremacy baked deep into our carceral systems.”
No wonder so many Americans have lost all faith in both the left and the media.
