Thanksgiving is a holiday that is all about giving thanks not only for our families, but also for all the great things that this country has to offer. That’s why it should come as no surprise that the liberal media is trying to cancel it.

USA Today ran a story on Tuesday with the headline, “What is Thanksgiving to Indigenous people? ‘A day of mourning,'” and the accompanying article claimed that “many” Americans believe the holiday “represents the dark shadow of genocide.”

The weather service Currently posted a tweet on Tuesday in which they accused Americans who celebrate Thanksgiving of “hurting” the Native American community.

Thanksgiving will be celebrated by many people across the country. The holiday perpetuates in a false narrative, that spins the true history of genocide and colonization into a light and largely false story.

Native American author went on MSNBC over the weekend to claim that the story of Thanksgiving is fake and was created by white people. He also slammed the pilgrims, alleging that they are responsible for a system of white supremacy that continues to bring about “state sponsored” violence against black people hundreds of years later.

Over 50,000 people have signed a petition calling on the Wall Street Journal to stop publishing its annual Thanksgiving editorial that portrays Pilgrims positively. Fox News reported that the Wall Street Journal has refused this request so far, but it remains to be seen how long they will be able to hold out in the coming years.

The Lifestyle media company Green Matters article this week listing out the many ways Thanksgiving is “bad.”

“Not only is Thanksgiving offensive to Indigenous people, but it glorifies colonialism, slavery, and even epidemics,” the article read. “Many Americans who celebrate Thanksgiving have no idea just how cruel the holiday’s origins are, while those who do may choose to either boycott the holiday, or just use it as an excuse to express general gratitude, gather with family, and eat comfort foods.”

In what should be shocking to nobody at this point, Democrat lawmakers have gotten in on the action as well.

“This Thanksgiving, please consider some alternate options such as listening to Native speakers to broaden your perspectives, engaging and educating your families on this topic, giving back to the community or supporting Native businesses,”  Oregon Democratic State Senator Kayse Jama tweeted.

“We do not celebrate Thanksgiving in my house and my kids are fully aware of the misconceptions of Happy Thanksgiving. Finally, the Washington Post published an article earlier this month claiming that the Native American tribe that helped the Pilgrims still regrets it 400 years later.

These are all just the latest examples of the left’s quest to erase history and make Americans feel ashamed of where they come from. Any holiday that involves being happy and thankful to be an American has to go in the eyes of the left, which is why they’re now coming for Thanksgiving.
