Jill Biden Downplays Question’s About Husband’s Mental Fitness – ‘Ridiculous’

In the months since Joe Biden took office, many questions have been raised about his cognitive abilities. In a a new interview with “CBS This Morning” that is set to air this weekend, First Lady Jill Biden tried to downplay these concerns by calling them “ridiculous.”

It remains to be seen how many Americans will actually buy that.

“Quite a few Americans have some questions about the president’s current mental fitness,” CBS correspondent Rita Braver told the First Lady.

“I think that’s ridiculous,” Jill responded, according to The New York Post [1].

This comes weeks after a Politico/Morning Consult survey [2] found that a whopping 48% of respondents disagreed with the statement “Biden is mentally fit,” while just 46% agreed with it. Republican lawmakers have long been demanding that Biden take a cognitive exam after his constant verbal gaffes and stumbles.

Earlier this year, former White House doctor Ronny Jackson, now a Republican representative from Texas, penned a letter to Biden urging him to take a cognitive test.

“The American people deserve to have absolute confidence in their President,” Jackson wrote, according to Sky News [3]. “They deserve to know that he or she can perform the duties demanded of the office, and they deserve to have full transparency on the mental state of their highest elected leader.”

Jackson later expressed his concerns about Biden’s mental fitness by saying that he seems to be “incapable” of doing the job of president.

“It is very obvious to everyone in the country right now that this guy has some cognitive issues,” he said. “I am not his physician, I am not diagnosing him, I haven’t examined him – all I know is that he has aged related cognitive decline and that he is not mentally fit.”

“I know what this job entails both physically and mentally and how demanding it is and I can tell you right now I am 100 per cent sure that Joe Biden is incapable of doing that job,” he continued.

Despite all of this, Jill stood by her husband in her new interview, calling him an “eternal optimist.”

“He keeps working at it,” she said. “He’s an eternal optimist, and he keeps working, Rita, like almost 24 hours a day, at creating relationships with Republicans as well as Democrats, to push his agenda forward. It’s that important.”

Despite how divided our country remains, Jill claimed her husband is bringing the country together.

“I don’t care if it’s a red state or a blue state,” Jill said. “I think, you know, Joe is the president for all Americans.”

Much of the country would disagree with you, Mrs. Biden.
