Donald Trump Was Allegedly Asked To Pardon Ghislaine Maxwell By Alan Dershowitz

New reports are coming out alleging that Alan Dershowitz, the former attorney of the late billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, personally asked Donald Trump to pardon Ghislaine Maxwell before leaving office.

The Times of London [1] reported that Dershowitz, 83, allegedly pushed for the pardon after Maxwell was arrested in July of 2020. Dershowitz attempted to use his close ties to Trump, who he represented in his impeachment trial, to make this happen.

Maxwell’s brother Ian confirmed that he had spoken with Dershowitz about clemency options.

“There was one phone call between Professor Dershowitz and a family member during which the generic issue of pardons was touched on,” Ian said. However, he claimed that his family never paid Dershowitz or explicitly ask him to ask Trump for the pardon.

The New York Post [2] reported that biographer Michael Wolff claimed in his book “Landslide,” which chronicles Trump’s final days in office, had talked about the possibility of pardoning Maxwell. He also alleged that Trump showed a “sudden interest” in Maxwell during the pardoning period.

Daily Mail [3] reported that when asked about Maxwell after her arrest, Trump said that he “hadn’t been following it too much” but that he “wishes her well.”

“I just wish her well frankly,” he said. “I’ve met her numerous times over the years especially since I lived in Palm Beach and I guess they lived in Palm Beach.”

A source close to the matter said that it “would not be unreasonable to report that” he had discussed Maxwell with the then-president. However, Dershowitz himself told Insider [4] “That is simply not true. The story is simply not true.”

“I have no comment on what anybody else said,” he added. “All I can tell you is that the [Sunday Times] story, the allegation of the story that I lobbied the president, is simply not true.”

Trump did not end up pardoning Maxwell, and she was convicted late last month on five out of six charges related to her grooming young girls for sex with Epstein, and sometimes participating in the abuse herself. Epstein allegedly committed suicide in prison while awaiting trial on his own sex crime charges in August of 2019.

Dershowitz himself has been implicated in Epstein’s crime, as the late billionaire’s alleged former sex slave Virginia Roberts Giuffre has claimed that she was forced to have sex with the lawyer when she was underage. Dershowitz has vehemently denied her claims, and he has never faced charges for them.
