MINNEAPOLIS, MN – A 20-year-old man who was tried to burn down a high school during the BLM riots of 2020 in Minneapolis was recently sentenced to probation [1] for his criminal actions during the height of the riots.

Examples such as the aforementioned serve as yet another example of the double standard actively ongoing regarding the treatment of January 6th defendants who are facing charges or have been convicted of crimes [3] less serious than arson-related offenses.
Mohamed Hussein Abdi was arrested back in June of 2020 regarding his attempts to set fire to Gordon Parks High School during the BLM riots.
Security footage reportedly showed Abdi entering the high school through a broken glass window, pouring out liquid onto the floor from a white container and into a trash can, and then taking a accelerant-doused rag, lighting it and tossing it into the garbage can.
Footage then showed Abdi running from the scene as fire and smoke began to spread inside of the building.
On February 3rd, 2022, Abdi appeared before District Court Judge David S. Doty in St. Paul, where the 20-year-old was sentenced to five years probation and ordered to pay slightly over $34,000 in restitution for the conviction of conspiracy to commit arson.
Thus, some who tried to burn down a high school amidst a riot gets off with some probation – quite the juxtaposition when compared to how the case of Jacob Chansley, a.k.a., the “QAnon Shaman” was handled when sentencing came down.
Back in November of 2021, when Chansley was sentenced for the completely non-violent and non-destructive crime of attempting to obstruct Congress during the January 6th incident, he was given a 41-month prison sentence.
Even U.S. District Court Judge Royce Lamberth admitted during Chansley’s sentencing, in between takes of acting as though Chansley was some evil figure, that he “didn’t slug anybody” – but proclaimed that what he did was “terrible” because he disrupted “the functioning of the whole government.”
Ironically, Congress is currently facing yet another government shutdown [5] which by definition disrupts “the functioning of the whole government,” but no one in Congress goes to jail for not passing budgets for the fiscal year.
Nonetheless, the sentencing of Abdi is just another bit of proof that rioting in the name of BLM can almost guarantee special treatment when it comes to prosecutions.
