The British television personality Piers Morgan is blasting Joe Biden for being “embarrassing,” saying that it’s clear that the current president is “asleep at the wheel.”
“It’s embarrassing, I mean, to be honest with you. I like Joe Biden personally,” Morgan told Fox News. “It’s nothing personal at all. I actually feel quite sad about what I’m witnessing because he seems to be asleep at the wheel.”
“Let’s be quite clear,” he added. “When you watch Joe Biden performing in public, he’s nothing like the firebrand senator of 25, 30 years ago. He looks like he’s…acting his age. And I would compare him in a way to Her Majesty the queen, who we all thought was very seriously ill after she missed the state opening of the UK Parliament a few days ago.”
Not stopping there, Morgan doubled down on comparing the 79 year-old Biden to the 96 year-old Queen Elizabeth.
“And we were all really worried about what that meant, which even survived long enough to enjoy her jubilee because it was so unprecedented,” Morgan continued. “Last night she came out at a live event to launch the Jubilee celebrations over at Windsor, a big horse show with lots of celebrities.”
“And she looked absolutely on top of her game,” he concluded. “Again, a remarkable, indomitable spirit. But you compare and contrast her at the age of 96 with Joe Biden at the age of 78. And frankly, it is embarrassing. She looks to have far more energy and life than the president does.”
This comes weeks after former President Donald Trump told Morgan that “anybody,” including Morgan himself, could beat Biden.
“I believe right now, anybody” could, Trump told Morgan, according to The U.K. Metro. “You could beat him right now. Our country’s a mess.”
When Morgan asked Trump if he plans to run for president again in 2024, he said, “For reasons of campaign finance and everything I’m not allowed to say but let me just say this, I think a lot of people are going to be very happy.”
“I love our country, our country is going to hell, but I think people are going to be happy,” he added.
Sources have said that Biden told former President Barack Obama that he plans to run for president because he thinks he’s “the only one who can beat” Trump.
“I believe he thinks he’s the only one who can beat Trump,” a source close to the situation told The Hill. “I don’t think he thinks there’s anyone in the Democratic party who can beat Trump and that’s the biggest factor.”
Given how unpopular Biden is in the polls right now, however, that may be difficult for many of Americans to buy.
