First Lady Jill Biden is apologizing today after she was hit with tons of backlash for giving a bizarre speech in which she appeared to compare Hispanic people to “breakfast tacos.”
Insider reported [1] that while speaking to the progressive Latino nonprofit group UnidosUS in San Antonio, Texas on Monday, Biden said that the group’s former president Raul Yzaguirre built it “with the understanding that the diversity of this community, as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami, and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio, is your strength.”
It should be noted that Biden also mispronounced the Spanish word “bodegas” when she said it in that line of the speech. Check out the moment for yourself below.
Jill Biden just said Hispanics are as “unique” as tacos.
This isn’t Veep. Which White House speechwriter just won a bet for getting the First Lady to say something like this?pic.twitter.com/DXfJgYz0g5 [2]

The National Association of Hispanic Journalists fired back at Biden by letting her know just how offensive her remarks really were.
“Using breakfast tacos to try to demonstrate the uniqueness of Latinos in San Antonio demonstrates a lack of cultural knowledge and sensitivity to the diversity of Latinos in the region,” the group said. “NAHJ encourages Dr. Biden and her speech writing team to take the time in the future to better understand the complexities of our people and communities.”
“We are not tacos,” the NAHJ continued. “Our heritage as Latinos is shaped by various diasporas, cultures & food traditions. Do not reduce us to stereotypes.”
Biden has since apologized through her press secretary Michael LaRosa, who tweeted on Tuesday morning, “The First Lady apologizes that her words conveyed anything but pure admiration and love for the Latino community.”
Unfortunately for Biden, however, the backlash against her has continued to grow.
“Jill Biden says Hispanics are as ‘unique’ as tacos and calls bodegas ‘bogidas.’ No wonder Hispanics are fleeing the Democratic Party!” tweeted [4] Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ).
“Which White House speechwriter just won a bet for getting the First Lady to say something like this?” tweeted Steve Guest [5], an advisor to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).
Other Twitter users got in on the action as well:
Sorry Jill Biden but like most LATINOS, I don’t identify as a “breakfast taco.”
Nor #LATINX [6]

Jill Biden just called Hispanics "unique as breakfast tacos".
You know she's about to come to the hood and call us Blacks "refreshing as watermelon and Ciroc".

I just want to clarify to @FLOTUS [9] is that although I am a proud Cuban-American, I do NOT identify as a taco.

Liberal privilege is Jill Biden telling a group of hispanic people that they're "as diverse as breakfast tacos" and not being canceled for it. pic.twitter.com/VlaISXy8Pl [11]

Imagine the regime media meltdown if a conservative called Hispanics "breakfast tacos" like Dr. Jill Biden did at the Latinx Luncheon today.
Democringe.

If Melania Trump had said anything like this about a minority group during her husband’s presidency, the media would have lost their minds, and it would have dominated the news cycle for days if not weeks. Since it was the liberal Jill Biden who said it, however, the media is sweeping this under the rug and giving her a free pass.
Unfortunately for the Bidens, the media, and the left as a whole, the American people see right through all of this, and they will show that when they vote right come November.
