Mark Wahlberg Leaves Hollywood To Give Family Better Life

The movies often portray California as a lavish paradise full of pristine beaches, beautiful people, and the home to some of Hollywood’s most elite A-list actors. While some of that might be true, thanks to the ongoing leadership of Governor Gavin Newsom, the Democratic stronghold has watched as residents and even celebrities pack up their bags and move out of state. Over the last year, crime and violence in California have surged as Newsom tries to combat the situation. Not to mention the staggering amount of homeless people in the area. And believing the situation to only be getting worse and wanting a better life for his family, actor Mark Wahlberg announced he was leaving Hollywood for Nevada.

Discussing the move and what led to the decision [1], Mark Wahlberg admitted that providing a better life for his family was the main focus. “I want to be able to work from home. I moved to California many years ago to pursue acting and I’ve only made a couple of movies in the entire time that I was there. So, to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer, this made a lot more sense for us.”

Mark Wahlberg and his wife, Rhea Durham, married in 2009 and have four children together. Only three of his children live at home as their eldest daughter Ella (19) moved out. Excited about what the future holds, the actor noted, “So, we came here to just kind of give ourselves a new look, a fresh start for the kids, and there’s lot of opportunity here. I’m really excited about the future.”

Although Mark Wahlberg is moving away from Hollywood, that doesn’t mean he is done with the entertainment industry. He expressed hopes of creating a “state-of-the-art studio” in his new home state and turning it into “Hollywood 2.0”.

While a sudden change for Mark Wahlberg and his family, the actor has long criticized Hollywood and the people who call it home. He said in a past interview [2], “A lot of Hollywood is living in a bubble. They’re pretty out of touch with the common person, the everyday guy out there providing for their family. Me, I’m very aware of the real world. I come from the real world and I exist in the real world. And although I can navigate Hollywood and I love the business and the opportunities it’s afforded me, I also understand what it’s like not to have all that.”

One online user hoped to save Mark Wahlberg, writing, “Las Vegas is changing for the worse as Democrats flee the states they already ruined.”
