Tucker Carlson’s theory on why he was fired highlights how corrupt things have become

Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News host, believes that he was fired because the Murdoch family intends to sell the network. Carlson, the highest-rated cable news host in history, was recently terminated by Fox News after a growing list of controversies related to his conduct on and off the air. The decision to fire Carlson was reportedly made by Lachlan Murdoch, the CEO of Fox Corporation, and Suzanne Scott, CEO of Fox News Media, on Friday night, and Carlson was informed of the decision on Monday morning.

According to Vanity Fair, Carlson told people that he does not know why he was terminated, but he appears to believe that his controversial show is being taken off the air because the Murdoch children intend to sell Fox News at some point. The New York Times reported that Carlson’s conduct both on and off the air had been grating on the Murdochs, including allegations of bullying, sexism, and calls for the firing of Fox journalists whose coverage he disliked. Carlson has also been criticized for his role in fostering a revisionist account of the assault on the United States Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

One point of contention was Carlson’s 2021 documentary, “Patriot Purge,” which advanced the conspiracy theory that the attack that day was a false flag operation designed to discredit the former president and his political movement. Lachlan Murdoch was said to have been caught off guard by the program, which also led two conservative Fox News contributors to quit in protest.

Carlson’s segment detailing the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, was also a point of contention. In March, Carlson edited down tens of thousands of hours of footage from the attack given to him by Speaker Kevin McCarthy and used them to falsely portray the rioters as people who had innocently ambled into the Capitol. The broadcast drew a rebuke from Senator Mitch McConnell, who is a friend of Rupert Murdoch’s and said Carlson had drawn “offensive and misleading conclusions.”

In response to Carlson’s termination, Fox News announced that it will have a series of rotating hosts to fill his 8 p.m. slot. Fox said Carlson’s last show aired Friday, and that starting Monday night, the network will have an interim show with rotating Fox News personalities until a new host is named. The network also recently reached a historic 11th-hour settlement with Dominion Voting Systems for over $787 million, after being sued for defamation by the voting technology company over Carlson’s false claims that it helped steal the 2020 presidential election from Donald Trump.

Fox News also recently parted ways with host Dan Bongino, who had been with the network for a decade. Bongino said on his podcast that he and the network could not come to terms on an extension. Fox News said that it will air “Lawrence Jones Cross Country” in place of Bongino’s show until the network announces a new schedule.

In conclusion, Tucker Carlson’s termination from Fox News has been attributed to a growing list of controversies related to his conduct on and off the air. While Carlson has said that he does not know why he was terminated, he appears to believe that the Murdoch family intends to sell the network. Fox News has not yet announced a replacement for Carlson or Dan Bongino, who also recently parted ways with the network.
