It took me a bit to get around to reading this. Over a year ago a friend suggested that we read this for book club. We decided on another book, and it went on my “To Read” list.

Fast forward to this year when I was given the book by a dear woman who stressed that I “simply must read it, right away!” and then share my thoughts with her. So I started in on it a few days ago, and couldn’t put it down!!

This book goes up there with my very favorite books of all time. First off, Justice Thomas is a humble man. To be so extraordinarily accomplished he is very tough on himself in this book, leaving no flaws out while presenting himself as a very real human being with struggles and a full range of emotions.

There are very difficult times described in the book, some that I simply could not imagine persevering under that he endured with grace. You’ll see many parallels between your own life and his regardless of your social station, ethnic background or faith tradition.

The Biblical truth that there is truly “nothing new under the sun” was evident as Justice Thomas described his interactions with Democrats. They were just as nasty and deranged in the seventies, eighties, and nineties as they are now. The many horrifying ways that Democrat organizations and activists have mistreated Justice Thomas is unconscionable and constant; he is in good company.

I’ve met Ginni Thomas on a few occasions here in St. Louis and found her to be warm, politically astute and a joy to spend time with. It’s no wonder that Justice Thomas constantly sings her praises.
