If you're a modern American you're used to seeing Democrat politicians violate their own edicts. It's one rule for them, another for the masses whom they rule. Recently we've seen that behavior from Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom and Democrat San Francisco Mayor London Breed. Another has joined the list, Democrat Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimindo. Flouting their own regs seems to have become hobby for them.

The governor of Rhode Island is facing criticism after she was photographed at a wine bar days after she had discouraged social activities because of the virus. The picture, taken by Erica Oliveras last Friday, shows Raimondo sitting at table in Barnaby’s Public House in Providence without a mask, WLNE reported.

"It's week two of our pause. I know it's been hard, but I want to thank every Rhode Islander who's following our guidance. Please, stay home except for essential activities & wear a mask anytime you're with people you don't live with. Together, we can turn our case numbers around."

“Shame on you Gina,” Susan Goodman, from Providence, said. “She shouldn’t even be at an event like that. You can drink wine at home. I’m an experienced wine drinker Gina, do it at home.”

But are we really surprised? For them, what is the down side? Sure, they get some negative press like this and then the news cycle moves on. The states in question are deep blue and the voters there accept political hypocrisy as par for the course. Will any of the three elected officials mentioned take much heat for this? You know the answer to that.

Because in our America public servants don't serve, they rule. They form a political class that knows people are more interested in what's on television or social media than they are in integrity from elected officials. They also know they could do a lot worse than this, and they have, and will still be handily reelected.

This is not what the Founders intended. This is not even what most voters would tolerate if they were paying attention. But they're not. And as such, Democrat elected officials won't pay attention to voters. The whole deal works out very nicely for the elected officials. For the country? Well, not so much.
