In a year full of disappointments and bad news seemingly everywhere you look, one grocery store worker has given us all something to smile about, and a reminder that some good needs result in incredible blessings.

During his shift at the local Foodland in Kahului, Hawaii, 22-year-old security guard Aina Townsend noticed that a patron had forgotten her wallet. Despite a bicycle being his sole means of transportation, Townsend kindly volunteered to return the wallet, and set of on his three-mile, up-hill ride after his shift had ended.

Chloe Marino was shocked when she received a knock at her door and was presented with the wallet she hadn’t even realized she’d left behind. She shared with CNN that she had been in a hurry at the grocery store and also had her 5-month-old son Cooper with her, and distractedly walked out of the store without noticing her wallet was not with her.

"I was shocked at first," said Chloe. "I didn't even realize I had lost it. He definitely went out of his way for a complete stranger which was so amazing."

Aina said he knew what a frustrating thing it was to lose a wallet and wanted to get Chloe’s back to her as quickly as possible.

Writing on his Facebook page about the surprise visitor, Chloe’s husband, Gray, said “He had found the wallet, and after seeing that we didn’t come back for it. He got on his bicycle and he pedaled miles to Waiehu where we lived, getting the address from her ID. He literally rode his bicycle to return her wallet. Completely full of everything important to her including cash. Nothing was so much as moved.”

Inspired by Aina’s selflessness and integrity after reading Gray’s post, a friend of the Marino’s named Greg Gaudet set up a GoFundMe to try and raise funds to purchase Mr. Townsend a car.

Learning of the fundraiser, Aina was stunned that a complete stranger would take it upon himself to do something so life changing for him.

"He deserves it you know," Gaudet states. "He's been working hard for a long time. He's a good guy. He deserves a break."

The fundraiser was set up 6 days ago and has already garnered almost 5 times more donations than was originally hoped for.

Aina Townsend insists that he did nothing more than anyone else would have done in his shoes. But he is certainly grateful his act of kindness has provided the opportunity to upgrade his mode of transportation from two-wheels to four.
