As this publication predicted months ago, China is testing the new Biden administration. But defense and intelligence analysts wonder, given the tremendous amount of business the Biden family has done in China, is the administration compromised on this issue?
One former analyst believes it is. “Watch, the Biden administration will rattle sabers, but that’s all,” said the former member of the intelligence community who asked for anonymity. “They have a lot of stuff on the Biden family…They considered their business dealings with Biden an investment. Now, it’s paying off.”
FNC: “China ratcheted up activity in Taiwan airspace on Sunday by flying 15 fighter jets between mainland Taiwan and the Pratas Islands in the South China Sea, a report said. Reuters, which cited Taiwan’s Defense Ministry, reported that the jets included six J-10 fighters, two SU-30s and other military planes. A day earlier, China flew eight bombers and four fighters into the same airspace, the report said.”

“Airborne alert sorties had been tasked, radio warnings issued and air defense missile systems deployed to monitor the activity,” the Taiwanese government said in a statement.
A US Navy aircraft carrier strike group entered the South China Sea over the weekend. It was a previously scheduled deployment. The Chinese government was not pleased.
“Some countries outside the region come from afar to flex their military muscles, ignite confrontations, and create tensions in the South China Sea, which is the root reason for the ‘militarization’ of this region,” Defense Ministry spokesperson Senior Col. Tan Kefei said at a regular press briefing.
Meanwhile, Taiwan provided data on the flights.

Ned Price, of the U.S. State Department, said Washington “notes with concern the pattern of ongoing PRC [People’s Republic of China] attempts to intimidate its neighbors, including Taiwan. We urge Beijing to cease its military, diplomatic, and economic pressure against Taiwan and instead engage in meaningful dialogue with Taiwan’s democratically elected representatives.” Soft words that are a signal to China to continue its efforts against Taiwan.
In a further signal to the Biden administration, Beijing has decided it has exclusive power over any islands it sees fit to claim.
AFP: “On its English-language news website on Monday, China’s military specifically referred to the Japanese-controlled Diaoyu islands when announcing enactment of a new coastal border law, with a headline saying it safeguards Beijing’s sovereignty over the uninhabited rocky chain, 1,200 miles (1,900 kilometers) southwest of Tokyo.”
“The new coastguard law shows China’s clear attitude and determination to safeguard its sovereignty,” the report said, citing Lu Yaodong, a research fellow with the Institute of Japanese Studies under the state-affiliated Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. It is a direct challenge to Japan and its alliance with America. China is claiming control over Japanese territory. It is not surprising that they waited for this administration to do it.
