CLARK COUNTY, WA – Former Democratic Congresswoman and Presidential Candidate Tulsi Gabbard spent her Sunday in Southwest Washington speaking on behalf of Joe Kent, the Republican Congressional nominee for the Third District in that state.

Gabbard recently announced her departure from the Democratic Party, citing her belief that the party is “now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness.” She has also recently announced her endorsement of Kent as well as Republican candidates in other states.

Gabbard told the crowd on Sunday that she believes in Kent’s leadership and wants to help him get elected however she can. “I believe in Joe Kent’s leadership,” she said, “and now is not a time for cowards in Washington [D.C.].”

Gabbard mentioned that one reason she is no longer a Democrat is because she feels that party does not have the best interest of Americans in mind when they set their policy. “It’s not only about us and our freedoms at stake, but our kids. And their ability to be kids. Their ability to grow up and thrive in this land of the free and home of the brave…Freedoms are very, very, very hard to get back once they’ve been lost.”

The former Congresswoman attended a rally to end child mutilation in Nashville last week hosted by the Daily Wire. While there, she heard a speaker named Chloe Cole, who is currently 18 years old. “At 11 years old,” Gabbard said, “she was exposed at school to ‘gender identity’ ideals. At 12, she told her parents that she was a boy and wanted to become a boy. At 13 years old, she was prescribed hormone blockers and testosterone. At 15 years old, she got a double mastectomy. What her parents were told, bottom line, was they could either have a dead daughter or a live son.”

When Chloe turned 16, Gabbard said, she realized that she made the wrong decision. “She realized that one day she wanted to be a mom, and that these doctors had taken that from her. She has now gone to de-transition as much as possible, but there’s so much about those irreversible surgeries and drugs that she was given, that she can’t go back, ever.”

Kent has spoken out multiple times against child mutilation, or “gender affirming care” as Democrats refer to it, and promised to pursue legislation against it. His opponent, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, has refused to fully comment on the matter, saying only that care decisions should be made between a person and their doctor. Her donor list, however, largely reflects supporters of child mutilation and other extreme beliefs, as represented by Act Blue.

There were activists for trans rights at the Nashville rally who, Gabbard said, were “screaming and yelling at this young girl.” She said she shared the story because she wanted to give a “real life example of what we need to fight against.” She said Democrats demand everyone respect everyone and let people be who they want to be, but that respect only goes one way. “If you dare step out of line, if you dare to even question their radical, woke agenda,” she said, “then they’ll scream at you until you shut up. They’ll try to get you to lose your job. They’ll smear your character, They’ll spread lies about you.

“I want to make sure that our future is one that is peaceful, prosperous, and free,” she continued. “I’m so excited to come here and show my support for Joe because now is the time for us to come together as Americans. Now is the time for leaders to lead. We don’t have leaders in Washington [DC] right now…Sometimes leading means you’ve got to tell the truth, which is not always nice to hear.”

Gabbard said that she believes Kent will be a truth-telling leader. She also encouraged people from both parties and Independents to think about the future of the country and rally behind Kent. “Put all the party labels aside, because it’s all crap when it comes right down to it,” she said. “What matters is who we are as Americans. The future of our country is literally on the line. Our freedom is on the line.”

Following the event, Red Voice Media was able to talk with Gabbard. She said there was not necessarily a “final straw” in her decision to leave the Democratic Party, but rather, “so many things built up over time, especially over these last few years.” She said, “I’m not going to say it was one very specific thing, but ultimately all of these different things, one after the other, really kept coming back to the fundamental threat that they pose to our Constitution and our country.

“[Democrats] hate freedom. And that hate is expressed through their actions and policies seeking to undermine our freedoms, both directly as well as indirectly through the use of big tech and social media. How can we have people in power who don’t believe in freedom, who are actively trying to undermine it?  And because they’re in power, they have the rule of law and the muscle that comes with it to be able to carry out their agenda. It’s a very, very dangerous thing.

“Ultimately, that’s what everything for me kept coming back to: I can’t take my oath to this country seriously as long as I’m aligned with a party that’s doing all they can to try to undermine and get rid of our Constitution.”

Gabbard said she’s not quite sure what her future holds, but for now she’s focused on the importance of getting good leaders who believe in American values into office. “I’m going to stay very involved with the fight for our future and our freedoms,” she said. “The vehicle for that, we’ll see. We’ll see what happens.”
