What is a fair election? According to the Democrats – a fair election is where their candidate wins and there can’t be any questioning whatsoever. While it isn’t shocking that the Democrats stole the 2020 election, it is interesting how some people are viewing the new way of voting moving forward into the 2024 election. For one professor, he believes that Black people's votes should count as double in order to level the playing field.
An assistant professor at Washington and Lee University School of Law, Brand Hasbrouck teaches criminal law, race relations, and when his busy schedules permit him to – teaches an entire course of critical race theory. What is that exactly? It, “examines the institutionalization of racism in the development of American law. It explores the development of critical race theory, investigates the uses and meanings of race in U.S. legal institutions and ideology, and maps the connections between critical race theory and broader national debates about race, racism and racial justice,"
Not wanting to mix words, Hasbrouck recently released an article entitled, "The Votes of Black Americans Should Count Twice."
As the assistant professor sees it, "Vote reparations would empower us to replace oppressive institutions with life-affirming structures of economic, social, and political equality," Hasbrouck said. "And if our elected representatives did not prioritize this transformational work, we could vote them out."
Going on, Hasbrouck said the main problem when the election process is the electoral college. He believes the electoral college was put in place to protect the interest of the so-called Slave states in America. By giving black people an extra vote, Hasbrouck said it would balance the scales because right now – white people’s votes count more than those of black people.
According to Hasbrouck, “white votes currently count more than Black ones, double-counting Black votes would restore electoral balance. Vote reparations would be a giant step toward remedying our nation's long history of denying and devaluing Black votes."
Surprisingly, there isn’t someone out there trying to stop black people from voting. The problem lies in the candidates. If you want more people to vote, then stop putting up the same generic politicians and start giving candidates who want something more than their name in a history book.
