No matter what the media or her aides say, Vice President Kamala Harris's visit to the Southern Border was extremely rushed. It should come as no surprise that neither Harris nor President Biden even mentioned a visit to the border within the last few months. The last time a reporter even asked Harris about it, the VP merely laughed the question off before jetting away. But while they tried their best to avoid the crisis they started, former President Donald Trump forced their hand when he announced his own trip to the Southern Border.

Just a few weeks back, Texas Governor Greg Abbott expressed the hardships his state has had to face since the White House practically abandoned them. The border is in shambles as countless immigrants flood into the country. Hearing their calls for help, Trump was astonished how Biden and Harris acted as if it was all under control. Hoping to spread the truth about the crisis, Trump is set to visit the border at the end of June, which is exactly why Harris expedited her trip. 

On Friday, Harris made what she is calling her first trip to the border, but some are pointing out the fact she barely even left the airport. Harris’s border stop was not only short but apparently, it was just a layover as she was heading home to California. What is even more absurd about her trip was the fact Harris picked El Paso in the first place. Reports, that she has clearly seen, show the immigration crisis is nearly 800 miles away in McAllen. Still, Harris considered the trip a success as she toured one of the nicer Border Patrol stations. She never once visited the actual border. 

Twitter users were quick to point out the pure showmanship of the whole trip. One user tweeted, “VP Harris not even going to the actual border. Just the airport and BP station - miles from the border. All on her way home to CA. This is theater.”

Another user pointed out a great observation as to why Harris avoided the border in El Paso. “Well yeah. Going to the border in El Paso would mean a photo with the border wall behind her, so of course she isn’t going.”

It should be noted that in January over 100 miles of Trump border wall was completed along El Paso, and according to the acting commissioner Mark Morgan, "The border wall system proves its worth every day with every mile. We need to know who is coming into our country. The border wall helps us achieve that."
