Former Vice President Mike Pence has just revealed that he has not talked to former President Donald Trump in nearly one year.

"We talked last summer," Pence said during a Fox News interview. "And you know I've said many times, it was difficult, Jan. 6 was difficult. It was a tragic day in the life of the nation."

"I know I did my duty under the Constitution of the United States, but the president and I sat down in the days that followed that, we spoke about it, talked through it, we parted amicably," he added.

"I know the media wants to distract from the Biden administration's failed agenda by focusing on one day in January. They want to use that one day to try and demean the – the character and intentions of 74 million Americans who believe we could be strong again and prosperous again and supported our administration in 2016 and 2020," Pence added, according to Daily Mail. "But I believe that our entire focus today should be on the future."

Trump was outspoken about his frustration at Pence for certifying the election results.

"I think Mike has been very badly hurt by what took place in respect to Jan. 6," Trump said last month during an event in Florida. "I think he's been mortally wounded, frankly, because I see the reaction he's getting from people. Mike should have sent those crooked votes back to the legislatures, and you would have had a different result in the election, in my opinion."

Trump made sure to add that Pence is a "good man" who made a "big mistake" in not recognizing the "massive voter fraud and irregularities" Trump has claimed were involved in the 2020 election results.

Rumors have been swirling that both Trump and Pence are planning presidential runs in 2024.

"You hear it here first, [he’s the] shadow front-runner," one close friend of Pence's told Vanity Fair.

While Trump has yet to reveal whether or not he will be running again in 2024, he described himself as the 45th and 47th president earlier this week. A new poll also put him six points ahead of President Joe Biden in a hypothetical 2024 rematch of their 2020 race.

Should Trump decide to run, it would certainly be interesting to see if he decides to make Pence his running mate again, or go with someone else. Given the fact that they have not spoken in months, however, it seems unlikely that Trump will pick Pence as his next running mate.
