The main method of holding political office incumbents accountable is to ensure they have a primary opponent when they run for re-election. In fact, many long time partisans support primarying every incumbent just to make sure they get the message that they work for us and their time with power is very temporary. Unfortunately, most incumbents win re-election, and we end up with career politicians, disconnected from we the people, like Mitch McConnell, who wield power as if they will live forever and don’t work for us, but for the rich and powerful who fund them. We the people must put this practice to an end.
