$2.7 trillion, that’s a really big number and Elon Musk’s DOGE team publicized it as the total of improper payments they are discovering in their auditing effort of Medicaid and Medicare in early February. By each agency’s own recent public admissions, they make more than $30 billion of improper payments every year! This has to stop. While we Americans have a lot of disagreements on healthcare these days, on this issue, we mostly agree that these funds must be spent on our citizens that need the services and fraud, waste and abuse must be eliminated in these agencies! We live in a country that has a $37 trillion debt and now pay more than a trillion dollars a year in interest on it, that is more than we spend on defense. My guest today is author Sally Pipes. She is President, CEO, and Thomas W. Smith Fellow in Health Care Policy at the Pacific Research Institute.
