6 months ago That is why President Trump’s recent executive order calling for the end of “no cash bail” is a great development but as with all of his executive orders, legislation must follow at the state and federal levels in order to make the changes permanent. The issue received renewed attention recently by the horrific murder of Iryna Zarutska, a Ukrainian refugee by Decarlos Brown Jr. Brown was free at the time of the attack, released on a written promise to appear in court, despite his history of violence and mental illness. My guest today to discuss this critically important issue is Texas Bail Attorney Ken Good. Ken received his law degree from Texas Tech School of Law, where he was a member of the Texas Tech Law Review. Mr. Good has argued cases before the Supreme Court of Texas and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, along with numerous courts of appeals, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is the author of "Good’s on Bail," a practice guide created for bail industry professionals and is a Board Member of Professional Bondsmen of Texas. In addition, he has written numerous articles on the subject of bail reform, including, “What Successful Bail Reform Looks Like.”
