Today we're diving straight into a chilling act of Islamist terrorism that struck right here in New York City over the weekend. Two young men—19-year-old Ibrahim Kayumi and 18-year-old Emir Balat, both from Pennsylvania—allegedly hurled homemade IEDs packed with TATP, the 'Mother of Satan' explosive favored by global jihadists, at protesters outside Gracie Mansion, the official residence of New York City's first Muslim mayor, Zohran Mamdani. These weren't random acts. Authorities, including the NYPD and FBI, have classified it as ISIS-inspired terrorism. The suspects reportedly shouted 'Allahu Akbar,' pledged allegiance to ISIS, watched its propaganda, and even told investigators they aimed for something bigger than the Boston Marathon bombing. One device ignited but failed to fully detonate—thank God no one was seriously hurt, but the intent was mass casualty. Yet, predictably, some in the media and even Mayor Mamdani himself tried to spin this. He called the original anti-Islamization protest 'rooted in white supremacy'—while downplaying or ignoring the clear jihadist motive behind the attack. CNN's Abby Phillip initially framed it as an 'attempted terror attack against' the mayor himself, only to retract after the facts came out: the targets were the protesters, not Mamdani, who wasn't even home. This is what happens when ideology blinds us to real threats—ISIS-inspired radicals radicalized on our soil, enabled by open borders and soft policies.
