With the able analytical aid of Dr. Tim Blessing of Alvernia University, this publication has been correct about ensuing events every step of the way since election day. The Supreme Court decision on the Texas brief was no different.

The support for the brief was primarily emotional. The brief was a Hail Mary pass inevitably turned down by a Supreme Court with a clear conservative majority. Of course, the same people who hailed the conservative majority on the court are now calling the Supremes hopeless communists for not taking up the Texas brief. Any problem with perspective there? Nahhhh.

The Supreme Court decision on Texas has been a telling lesson in confirmation bias and drama queen theatrics on the Right. Will many who indulged learn from it? Likely not.

Because there are some on the Right who are falling into the same traps of irrational emotionalism they have heretofore accused the Left of. The “not my president” school of political reality is a sad place to hang your hat when you lose. It was for the Left in 2016 and it is for us now.

But, you say, we won fairly then and they cheated now. Yup. So what? Is that moral dilemma supposed to alter cold hard politics? In what country? Because certainly not in this one or in any other nation I’ve ever heard of. What people are doing, people who expect honor and truth being in preeminence on any side, is immanentizing the eschaton. That is William F. Buckley Jr.’s erudite line that translates into expecting heaven on Earth and trying to transfer it here. In effect, WFB cautions us to not expect perfection in things like politics and government. You’re lucky if you get barely operating sentience.

The same folks on the Right are also a tad fickle. Case in point, Bill Barr. The AG, probably because it was an ongoing investigation, did not bellow forth before the election on the Hunter Biden case. Granted, if he had it could have changed some minds. But the same people who were recently throwing rose petals at Barr are now damming him as an agent of Lucifer. Was this a wise decision, to stay silent on the Hunter Biden investigation? Perhaps not. But the same man who was lionized last week is the same guy who held off on Hunter Biden. So did he become a Satanic imp months ago and has just made a good show of it up until now for appearances sake? To believe that, as opposed to think it, is an emotional reaction to a practical issue. Never smart and never adult.

But back to Texas. So where do we go from here, we being traditional America and the conservative movement? No, we don’t pass go, cross a Rubicon, and head for civil war. One, the national situation is not there yet. Two, we’re not prepared or organized for that yet, as it won’t just be a gleeful jamboree. And it’s not the end of the republic now either. We took a hit. That’s true. But we have the high court, as this was a right decision on standing, the Senate probably, and Kevin McCarthy is working on the House. So keep your powder dry but don’t use it quite yet. Let’s truly hope you never have to.
