Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich spoke out on Thursday night to reveal what he thinks Republicans can learn from the school issues that are currently happening in Virginia.

Gingrich made these comments while appearing on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News show, where he reacted to new polls that show Virginia Republican candidate Glenn Youngkin pulling ahead of his Democratic opponent, former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, with Election Day set for next Tuesday.

“I think that’s a lesson for Republicans everywhere: People care about children,” Gingrich said., “People care about education. People know that the government-employee unions and the government schools are not succeeding.”

“I think if we were prepared to be more bold and more aggressive, we’d be shocked how many – we just did a series of polls at a project I’m doing, called the American Majority Project and we found among African-Americans a deep resentment of this effort by the Left to eliminate grades, to eliminate quality, to eliminate programs of excellence because they thought it was cheating their children,” he added.

Not stopping there, Gingrich proceeded to double down.

“So I think this issue could apply everywhere in the country, and I think we’ll find out next Tuesday,” he added. “But right now at least, if the Fox Poll is accurate — and I’m told that it is by some people in the Youngkin campaign — this is going to be a huge shock to the Democratic Party in this country and to the news media. Because the margin is going to be much bigger than they expect.”

This comes days after Gingrich attacked President Joe Biden for his spending bill, saying that “Nobody believes what he said.”

“If you thought you bought a racehorse and you ended up buying a donkey, there ought to be a point where you decide not to race it,” Gingrich told Fox News. “They’ve got bills that aren’t very popular. The more people learn about them, the less popular they are. What he said yesterday [was] just plain, a lie.”

“Is there anybody in America who believes you can spend 5.25 trillion, not billion, trillion dollars and not raise taxes?” he added. “And not somehow pay for it with deficit financing? So I think they’ve got themselves out on a rhetorical limb. They can’t get off it. And for some reason, nobody on his staff can explain to Biden that this just makes him unbelievable. I mean, nobody believes what he said yesterday.”

As per usual, Gingrich’s political commentary is spot on.
