The former President Donald Trump is sounding off to blame Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on President Joe Biden and his administration.

Trump held nothing back as he torched the Biden Administration, accusing them of being weak.

“This is something that should have never happened,” Trump said. “This would not have happened during my administration. In fact, some people were saying, why didn’t this take place over the past four years during my administration? And it didn’t for a very good reason. I’ll explain that to you someday. But it wouldn’t have taken place, and it wouldn’t have taken place right now. It’s a very sad thing for the world, the country, and it is certainly sad for a lot of people that are going to be needlessly killed.”

“I do know him, and I do know him very well,” he continued. “We’ve had many, many times together. I got along with him fantastically despite the fact that I shut down Nord Stream 2. Nobody would have heard of Nord Stream 2 if it weren’t for me. I’m the one that shut it down, and I’m the one that told Angela [Merkel] you’re doing a terrible thing by doing this, and they were going to get 75%, not 30% — 75% of their energy from Nord Stream 2. It was ridiculous.”

Daily Mail reported that Trump made similar comments earlier in the week, when he said that Russia has become “very very rich” under President Biden.

“If properly handled, there was absolutely no reason that the situation currently happening in Ukraine should have happened at all,” Trump said on Tuesday. “I know Vladimir Putin very well, and he would have never done during the Trump Administration what he is doing now, no way.”

Not stopping there, Trump slammed Biden for his “weak sanctions.”

“The weak sanctions are insignificant relative to taking over a country and a massive piece of strategically located land,” Trump said. “Now it has begun, oil prices are going higher and higher, and Putin is not only getting what he always wanted, but getting, because of the oil and gas surge, richer and richer.”

In a separate interview, Trump gave his thoughts on what Putin is doing strategically.

“I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, ‘This is genius.’ Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine, of Ukraine, Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful,” Trump said, according to CNN.

The ex-President added: “So Putin is now saying, ‘It’s independent,’ a large section of Ukraine. I said, ‘How smart is that?’ And he’s going to go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s the strongest peace force,” Trump said. “We could use that on our southern border. That’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen. … Here’s a guy who’s very savvy. … I know him very well. Very, very well.”

It remains to be seen how Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will ultimately turn out.
