Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump, is speaking out to slam President Joe Biden. She went so far as to say that he should have followed his predecessor’s lead when it comes to trying to make the United States energy independent.

“Oil is a big deal. And you know who knew that is Donald Trump,” Lara told Fox News. “That’s why he opened up the Keystone XL pipeline. That’s why he made sure that Nord Stream 2 wasn’t fully available to be opened up to the Europeans because now you see the position, and he warned everybody about this. He was mocked in 2018 for warning Germany, if you’re too reliant on Russian oil, it’s going to put you in a bad spot.”

“And look at the spot they’re in now,” she continued. “Look at the stranglehold that Vladimir Putin and Russia has on Europe, on most of the world. So why wouldn’t we want to make it ourselves here? Why wouldn’t we want to be energy independent? None of it makes any sense.”

Not stopping there, Lara proceeded to call out the left for only focusing on “climate change.”

“You know, they always talk about climate change and it being greener,” she said. “Well, the trucks that are having to transport the oil that we’re having shipped to our country across America are causing much more issue with the environment than a pipeline would. None of it makes sense. But yet again, just another reason we’ve got to have somebody that’s got some common sense in there. A lot of people say that would be Donald Trump.”

This comes after former President Trump said that the U.S. could have made a “fortune” from the Ukraine war by exploiting oil sanctions on Russia, according to Newsweek. After being asked if Biden should put sanctions on Russia’s oil sector, Trump fired back by saying, “You should open it up in the United States and you should buy no oil whatsoever from Russia.”

“He should open it up—it’ll take a while, that’s the problem, we had it there already—our country would have made an absolute fortune, more money than has ever made, on this situation,” Trump added.

Trump also claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin never would have invaded Ukraine if he were still in office.

“Now, the situation itself would have never happened so we wouldn’t have had that problem,” Trump said. “But we had low energy costs that were very abundant. And now they’ve closed all the leases, they’ve ended exploration,”
